|We have worked with the Department of Work and Pensions to set up a series of courses to get long term unemployed ladies in the City of Peterborough back into work by up skilling them.
This was done by taking the teaching into the local community and so breaking down barriers that would exist had the ladies gone to an environment outside their comfort zone. 60 ladies where taught by a female tutor how to use a sewing machine, working with patterns to cut and sew various items. After the 6 week course the ladies that had shown the willingness to work, had the skill to do so when offered part time work from home.
During the six week period the ladies learned new skills, grew in confidence and felt better about themselves.
